CWA/PIW BARGAINING REPORT #1

The Union and the company met Thursday, September 15, 2016, for the first day of bargaining. Much of the first day was spent with the two negotiating teams discussing issues important to each side. The CWA relayed to the Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) that member safety; scheduling; training; staffing and wages were the top issues our members had this round of bargaining. PIW indicated their objective was to clean up contract language and make things more consistent with how Universal Health Services runs their other facilities.

CWA made several requests for information surrounding policies and procedures; scheduling; overtime and staffing. Part of the session was spent reviewing some of these documents. PIW still owes information to the CWA and continued to work on providing that information.

The two sides are expected to meet again on Thursday, October 6th and Friday, October 7th.

CWA members are invited to meet with their bargaining committee on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 from 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The morning meet and greet will be held in the auditorium and the afternoon session in the executive dining room.

The committee appreciates the display of your red "Stronger Together" wristbands and looks for your continued support and engagement as we continue negotiations.
