Verizon intends to offer the Special EISP. Volunteers will be accepted as necessary to meet business needs. Packages will be distributed to employees beginning today 8-23-2016. The volunteer period will begin on August 30, 2016 and end on September 28, 2016. If you are accepted for the "Special EISP" the off payroll date is October 9, 2016.

Just an FYI: There is no LTSD for D.C. & Virginia for the week of 8-21 thru 8-27. You are still able to volunteer for OT, but no one should be forced to work. The Co.has called OT for 6 weeks of the 10 week cap per the CBA in D.C.& Virginia as of last week.

CUTTING OUR HEALTHCARE IS A SICK IDEA AND VERIZON IS SICK ENOUGH TO DO IT. On May 1st, Verizon will cut our health benefits. Doing so is a choice for the company and it is the last thing they can strip from us. Despite the expense it will cost them, Verizon will use our healthcare benefits as an economic weapon to try and break us.

The Local has been directed to shift all picket lines to the Verizon Wireless stores. This has shown to be a more effective tool in getting the attention of Verizon Communications. Two members of CWA Local 2108 at the Gaithersburg, Md., garage were hit by a Verizon management attorney driving his Porsche. That says it all, doesn't it? One member was not seriously hurt, but the second was taken to the hospital. Another CWAer from Local 2108 who works at the Chesapeake Complex call center in Silver Spring, Md.

There have been questions regarding Verizon's letter to striking CWA members saying that our health care benefits will be discontinued at the end of April should we still be on strike.   Anyone who has a chronic health issue requiring medication treatment or doctor's visits please contact the Local to self identify in the event we are on strike and you will need coverage.

Striking Verizon workers and their supporters "Rocked the red!" last Friday night at the Verizon Center as hockey fans flocked in for the playoffs on "Red Shirt Day" for the Capitols (red also happens to be CWA's union colors). They'll be back again on Saturday at 6p to spread the word about the strike by nearly 40,000 workers from Virginia to Massachusetts.

Regional Bargaining Report # 59 Tuesday, April 12, 2016 Negotiations at the Regional table have ground to a halt. Earlier this afternoon an off table discussion was held regarding Call Sharing. No progress was made on the issue. Talks have recessed for now, subject to call by either party.

 CWA and IBEW Set to Go On Strike at Verizon Wednesday, April 13, 6 a.m. After ten months of intensive negotiations to reach a fair contract with Verizon, the CWA and IBEW have announced a strike deadline of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13.  We will set up picket lines and shut this company down if a fair agreement is not reached by then.

Regional Bargaining Report # 58 Thursday, April 7, 2016 Bargaining continued this week in Philadelphia. The Union passed proposals related to a few of the Company’s demands regarding Independent Medical Exams, Evaluative Observations and Municipal and State Leave Laws. The Company rejected rational arguments on each of these proposals.

Frontier completed its acquisition of Verizon's (NYSE: VZ) wireline properties in California, Florida and Texas on Friday, but it appears that the initial switchover has been bumpy with a number of users telling local media outlets they were seeing issues with their broadband and video services.

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is acquiring competitive provider XO Communications' fiber business for $1.8 billion, giving it an expanded network to deepen its Ethernet penetration while satisfying its small cell and wireless backhaul needs.   Buying XO's fiber makes sense for Verizon on a number of levels.

Verizon Communications Inc., the largest U.S. wireless provider, may sell bonds backed by the payments its customers owe for financing phones. While other companies such as Sprint Corp. have used the technique to obtain private loans, Verizon would be one of the first wireless carriers to issue bonds that use expected monthly phone payments from its customers as collateral.

Frontier Communications Corp. has received clearance from federal antitrust regulators of its proposed acquisition of Verizon Communications, Inc., assets in California, Florida, and Texas.
