Verizon offers free calls to Haiti in ‘chaotic’ aftermath of Hurricane Matthew |
Around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 storm system, made landfall in Les Anglais, Haiti. Information is still slowly trickling in regarding the full extent of the damage, with the New York Times reporting “major devastation as the storm felled trees, ripped roofs, and destroyed farms” in the island nation.
PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESS |
Yahoo wasn’t lying when it told Verizon it didn’t know about the biggest hack in history.
Since Yahoo admitted on Sept. 22 that a 2014 hack compromised half a billion user accounts, a key question has been: how long has it known?
The Financial Times reported (paywall) on Sept 23 that CEO Marissa Mayer knew Yahoo was looking into a possible hack back in July.

Upcoming EISP |

LTSD |
Just an FYI: There is no LTSD for D.C. & Virginia for the week of 8-21 thru 8-27. You are still able to volunteer for OT, but no one should be forced to work. The Co.has called OT for 6 weeks of the 10 week cap per the CBA in D.C.& Virginia as of last week.

Verizon May Be Moving Into Fleet Management |
In the United States, the mobile market is largely saturated. Aside from a steady base of brand new users coming of the age to own a phone and the occasional carrier-jumper, growth is hard to come by in such a market.
Surviving The Heat |
Please be aware of the heat the temps are going to be over 100f for the next week A relative humidity of 60% or more hampers sweat evaporation, which hinders your body's ability to cool itself. The risk of heat-related illness dramatically increases when the heat index climbs to 90 degrees or more.
Safety |
FYI: In light of the recent incident, please be aware of your surroundings. There is an activie shooter incident @ Andrews AFB & there was a shooting last night @ 400 blk. of Bladensburg Rd. N.E. Please be careful and your safety starts with you. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. If you are sent to a known "hot spot" contact your supervisor and advise them that the area is a 2man area.
Safety |
A technician was confronted today @ gunpoint in the Trinidad area, but is unhurt. It is important to note, that your safety is yours and yours alone. No one has the right to tell you when and where you feel safe. If your work takes you to a 2man area, insist to management that someone goes with you.
