CWA Local 2336 Nomination Notice

As a result of a voluntary settlement agreement between Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 2336 and the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS), nominations and  election are being held for the offices of President, Executive Vice President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer under OLMS supervision.  The term of office is three (3) years.  The nomination for the offices of President, Executive Vice President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer also constitute the nominations of the same member as a delegate to CWA Conventions held during the term of office for which the election is being conducted.

How to Nominate

Article 12, Section 1(c) of CWA Local 2336 Bylaws state, “Local Officers shall be nominated by petition signed and dated by twenty-five (25) members of the Local in good standing.”

Nomination petitions may be submitted via email to OLMS Election Supervisor Yusef Joyner at joyner.yusef@dol.gov or in person 375 E Street, SW, Suite 11-200, Washington, DC 20024.  Nominations must be submitted no later than September 25, 2017 at 4:00 pm. 

Nomination petitions are available on the CWA Local 2336 website (www.cwalocal2336.org) or available by contacting the Election Supervisor.

After the nomination deadline, potential candidate’s nomination petitions will be reviewed and verified by the Election Supervisor and Election Committee.  Nominee shall designate within five (5) days, in writing, their acceptance of the nomination. 

There are NO other methods to nominate candidates outside of petition.

Qualifications to run for union office:

CWA Constitution provides in Article 4, Section D that only members of the Union in good standing shall be eligible to vote or hold elective office. No elected officer of the Union or of a Local shall take office unless the elected officer is eligible under the Constitution and Federal or Provincial Law.  Good standing as defined by CWA is a member no more than one month in arrears in dues payments

Bargaining Update

DIRECTV CWA's bargaining committee for DIRECTV customer care and commercial retention workers reached tentative agreements covering 2,500 workers at five call centers. Call centers are located in Huntsville, Ala.; Huntington, W.Va; Eden Prairie, Minn.; Denver, Colo.; and Tulsa, Okla. There are some differences in the tentative agreements; by call center.
