Regional Bargaining Report # 55 Friday, March 18, 2016 As bargaining in Philadelphia resumed this week, high level discussions took place in an attempt to find a way to move negotiations toward a successful resolution.

Informational Picketing & Leafletting

Verizon acquires XO’s fiber business for $1.8B, feeding enterprise services, wireless backhaul efforts
Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is acquiring competitive provider XO Communications’ fiber business for $1.8 billion, giving it an expanded network to deepen its Ethernet penetration while satisfying its small cell and wireless backhaul needs. Buying XO’s fiber makes sense for Verizon on a number of levels.
Verizon Weighs Selling Bonds Backed by Customers’ Phone Payments
Verizon Communications Inc., the largest U.S. wireless provider, may sell bonds backed by the payments its customers owe for financing phones. While other companies such as Sprint Corp. have used the technique to obtain private loans, Verizon would be one of the first wireless carriers to issue bonds that use expected monthly phone payments from its customers as collateral.

FRONTIER PURCHASE OF VERIZON ASSETS CLEARS HURDLE
Frontier Communications Corp. has received clearance from federal antitrust regulators of its proposed acquisition of Verizon Communications, Inc., assets in California, Florida, and Texas.
