Safety

A technician was confronted today @ gunpoint in the Trinidad area, but is unhurt. It is important to note, that your safety is yours and yours alone. No one has the right to tell you when and where you feel safe. If your work takes you to a 2man area, insist to management that someone goes with you. If they do not provide someone to assist you, then you leave the work on your load, and call the hall immediatly. If after having arrived on the jobsite and it becomes unsafe, leave immediatly, contact your Local manager, and the Union. Things happen that are out of our control, but known “hot areas” needs to be treated as such. Do not go in these areas alone! The Union is not saying “not to do the work”, but please take your safety SERIOUSLY. The Union is in contact with the Company concerning the issues of safety and will continue to address it, but your safety is your responsibility first.
