Passing of James Abrams

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, James Abrams, who passed away yesterday afternoon. James has made a tremendous impact on us all and we will all miss him more than words can express. At this time we do not have any additional information to pass along, when we receive arrangement details we will share with the teams. Please keep the family along with his Verizon Family in your thoughts and prayers as we all process this devastating loss.

James was 69 years old, a resident of Bowie, Maryland, and an active Verizon employee with 45 years service. James graduated from DuVall High School and Bowie State College and played football at both schools. James started work for C&P Telephone 12-11-1978 as a Cable Splicer in Prince George’s County at various garages and occasionally loaned to Montgomery County.

Later, James was promoted to the Engineering department and covered various central offices.  James ultimately moved into the Hi-Cap group for WSAM and remained there for many years.   In Hi-Cap, James  mostly  performed cell site work for the different companies,  meeting with their cell site vendors to set up for Verizon service.

James was a very positive, lively person and always quick to smile.  James will be greatly missed at Verizon and by many friends he had through the years. Our condolences to James’ family.
