Regional Bargaining Report #62
Regional Bargaining Report # 62 Sunday, April 24, 2016 It is now Day 12 of the strike and instead of the company bargaining team coming to the table to negotiate; Company executives continue to visit CWA and IBEW members on the picket lines. While our members have repeatedly told Vz executives to get back to the bargaining table they don’t seem to get the message.
Healthcare Benefits
COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS OF AMERICA Healthcare Benefits During Strikes ? In strike situations where an employer cuts off healthcare benefits, CWA will pay for necessary medical/hospital expenses. In some extreme cases the Fund Director may authorize payment of healthcare premiums (COBRA) on behalf of strikers and their dependents.
Request For COBRA Payment
If you are in need of a “CWA MEMBER REQUEST FOR COBRA PAYMENT” form, please contact the Local 202-291-1500. You will be required to submit personal information and documentation for the form to be considered for review.
STAND UP TO
STAND UP TO CORPORATE GREED Verizon Wireless workers are on strike fighting for their families and their future. They’re bravely taking on Verizon’s greedy corporate executives who refuse to offer them ANY raises, better health care benefits or improved working conditions.
New Picket Line Assignments
Good Afternoon Sisters & Brothers: The focus of the National has changed pertaining to the work stoppage at Verizon. The Local has been directed to shift all picket lines to the Verizon Wireless stores. This has shown to be a more effective tool in getting the attention of Verizon Communications. This strategy may also bring a potential early end to this strike.
Regional Bargaining Report # 61
Regional Bargaining Report # 61 Monday, April 18, 2016 The Union and the Company met today. The Union requested the meeting to again clarify our members’ issues for the Company. We explained how it appears Tami Erwin and Lowell McAdam don’t seem to understand what is going on at this table as they visit picket lines throughout the North and Mid-Atlantic Regions.
Report from the Front Lines
Two members of CWA Local 2108 at the Gaithersburg, Md., garage were hit by a Verizon management attorney driving his Porsche. That says it all, doesn’t it? One member was not seriously hurt, but the second was taken to the hospital. Another CWAer from Local 2108 who works at the Chesapeake Complex call center in Silver Spring, Md.
Insurance Coverage for Strikers
There have been questions regarding Verizon’s letter to striking CWA members saying that our health care benefits will be discontinued at the end of April should we still be on strike. Anyone who has a chronic health issue requiring medication treatment or doctor’s visits please contact the Local to self identify in the event we are on strike and you will need coverage.
